Ana Gallegos is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary and K-8 schools in the Tucson Unified School District in Tucson, Arizona. Prior to this assignment Ana served her district as the Director of Title I programs. Ana has been an educator for 25 years and during this time, has served in different capacities as a teacher, curriculum specialist, summer school coordinator, and administrator for K-12 schools. In her current role, Ana is working with 63 Elementary and K-8 schools. Ana also oversees the pre-kinder programs.
Her professional career outside of education includes working in a bank, as well as working overseas. Ana has applied this combination of business and educational work to her current position as Assistant Superintendent where she sees the importance of serving her community and students. Ana has a special interest in promoting the understanding of mental illness in order to help remove the stigma and promote hope and a better quality of life.
