In 1990, the U.S. Congress established the first full week of October as
Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) in recognition of NAMI's efforts to raise mental illness awareness.
Since then, mental health advocates across the country have joined with others in their communities to sponsor activities, large or small, for public education about mental illness.

Candlelight Vigil for Mental Illness
Recovery and Understanding Tuesday, October 9, 6pm-7pm Join us for a short candle lighting ceremony and prayer service. There will be speakers telling their stories about how mental illness has affected them; their path to recovery and how they found help and hope. This event is open to the public, join us to show your support mental health. People of all faiths are welcome.
